A 19th century former railway station building and 20th century utility buildings have been renovated for the amenity’s needs. One of the rooms is decorated as a former waiting room. This allows visitors to go back in time to when steam locomotives were still running on the tracks.
The interiors also include a rich collection of railway exhibits. Here you can see old railway lamps, tickets or light signals. PKP PLK donated an unused railway bridge, which serves as an outdoor exhibit here These objects, which were once basic railway equipment, are complemented by modern multimedia, such as a steam emitter or an interactive map of line 101. The outdoor exhibition introduces the visitors to the history of the Galician railway.
All the intricacies of railway infrastructure may certainly be explained by a model railway. It features an option to manage train traffic and signalling. In this way, visitors can see what it's like to manage traffic on the railway. The model is enriched with bridges, buildings and culverts, the interior of which can be seen from the inside.
The main attraction is a Ty2-7 steam locomotive produced back in 1944. Three pre-war carriages are attached to it, one passenger and two freight units.
Basznia Station - Railway Gallery is a perfect place for both children and adults. The youngest tourists will surely be delighted with the railway playground or a ride on the "miniBałaj".
